{story of my Papa Reidhead}

(NOTE: Re-posting this story per request of a few people.)

First off, for those of you who don't know my Papa Doy Reidhead- he is a little old cowboy, with a cowboy hat, wranglers, boots, spurs, mustache, chew...horses, cows, dust, rodeos, ropin'...a true- through and through-COWBOY! He has also been know to swear a time or two. In fact I think I recall him talking at my cousin's missionary farewell and saying "Hell" in church...with no remorse, it just flowed out like in a normal conversation. So, now that you have a nice image...on with the story.
It was Rustin's farewell (to New York) party and Brody's blessing party and the whole Reidhead clan was gathered at my parents house for some hamburgers and a fiesta.
My mom had, of course, cleaned the house before hand....a nice DEEP clean.
Everyone was sitting out on our back patio, just visiting and what not. Someone happened to close the sliding door. Well, Papa gets up to go into the house and WHAM...runs right into the door, pert near knocked his hat off. He didn't really say anything...just opens it and walks in.
(I'm in the background, trying not to laugh...looking around to see if anyone else saw what I saw.)
Anyway, the party continues back out on the patio...Papa is back out there at this time. Then he gets up again to go back inside...takes a few steps and WHAM...hits his face on the sliding door again...this time leaving a face smudge!!! And these are his words...and I'm quoting so it's ok, "Tamra must have scrubbed the hell out of this. This is the cleanest, damn, son of a bitchest door I've ever seen."

It's still as good & funny now as it was back when it happened.

Did I ever tell you that when I first moved to Camp Verde my bishop told me that he had land out on McLaws Road? He said that it was next to a guy named Doy Reidhead's land and was curious if I knew this man. I said that I did (c'mon..it's Holbrook not a sprawling metropolis!) and every time that I think of your grandpa I think about Kylie's farewell where he cursed from the pulpit. It cracks me up. Hope that everything is going great up there for you and I will talk to you later!

ha ha I'm dying. I totally remember you posting this before and I think I said I was dying then too. This is hilarious! Totally wish I was there. I would have been rolling on the ground!
