Ever seen a 250 lb (and still loosing weight) man try to go on a slip n' slide?
I did. This past weekend. My dad decided that he wanted to show Brody how to work an old fashioned yellow slip n slide. Crazy how un-well a BIG man slides. It looked more like a seal (a very big seal) scooting along rocks on the side of the ocean. Me, my mom, Danica, AND Brody sat in lawn chairs and watched. Brody loved it and exclaimed "MORE GAMPA!"
Another funny moment:
As my dad mowed the lawn Danica and I sat in lawn chairs and watched.
We laughed about how our yard work has sure gotten easier as we have gotten older. 10 years ago he would have had us hauling river rocks, laying cement, planting grass, picking weeds, hoeing, and putting in a sprinkler system. I was quite content on sitting there and observing him do the work.
A few hours later after Danica and I had made our rounds around the town saying hi to friends and what not...
We came home and realized that Jimmy had put up a HUGE beam on our back porch all by himself. I'm talking a beam that probaby weighed 150 lbs and was about 15 feet long.
I walked outside and my dad PROUDLY proclaimed that he had put the beam up all by himself!
My comment: Well I wish you would have called us. We would have gotten our lawn chairs.
(funny....or maybe it was a "had to be there moment")
We went to the Taylor Rodeo. They had a "Grocery Race"...which is 3 people getting on top of a bare back horse, riding to the other end of the arena, and then picking up some groceries, and then riding back. WELL, this group of 3 little ladies (probably 11 or 12 years old) participated. Bless their hearts. They made it down to one end NO problems BUT as they loaded up the groceries the last girl tried to hop back on. Her method? Oh, it was trying to jump crazy cowboy hollywood western style...from the back end of the horse. However, unfortunately, she was white. Therefore, she would run and jump, do a jumping-jack motion in the air...and then WHAM, smack right into the butt end of the horse. She did this about 15 times. Each time she did it she got a little less air time...until one time she didn't even get off the ground and just smacked right into the horses rear.
With each jump I laughed harder and louder. I ended up hunched over with tears in my eyes and shaking from laughing so hard. It was hilarious. I'm not sure if other people were laughing around me because I was so consumed with watching her. If they can't laugh at that then they can just leave. (ya, I just said it.)
One day we walked Brody down to the park. Danica and I climbed the stairs and insisted on getting my mom's attention.
Us: "Mom, mom, mom, mom, MoooooooM, mom, mom."
Her: "WHAT????"
Us: "Hi"....giggling.
SO FUNNY....grow up, right?
My mom went down the tunnel slide after Brody. Well, because of her height she had to lay down. By laying down she created more speed than she intended too and the slide was a little quicker than she thought. By the time she realized that it was time for her to sit up she had already slide off the end of the slide and landed flat on her rear. It was awesome. Again, more laughter.
Danica put on one of my mom's dresses.
It had shoulder pads and was BRIGHT blue.
In her deepest man voice she said, "HI, my name is MANICA."
Oh my transvestite. I'm not going to lie, it was kind of scary....but so hilarious.
There were many other great moments during my visit. I got to see Jesica Williams and Courtney and their kiddoes. I got to see Roby Rob and spin Brody around and around in the beauticianist chair...then watch him try to walk...SO FUNNY. Then I got to see Josh Sprung and catch up with him and his life. I drove down with my best friend from High School, Brenda. We talked about the good times, being a wife, being a mom, how much things have changed...yet so many things are the same, how much we respect each other, and laughed about growing up.
It was a good trip.

You tell the BEST stories. And guess what. Stay tuned because I have THE pictures of the slip n slide adventure and me making my exit down the tunnel slide. Stay tuned to my blog.... :)
Oh how I wish you had pictures!!! But you tell the stories so GOOD that I can honestly picture them all in my head!!! You make me laugh...and I needed that today!
Seals are better than walruses or whales... I'm just grateful you went in the house when I pulled my shirt off and tried sliding on my bare belly. I went much better, I think that was the walrus coming out in me. Fun times and Thanks for all the help...when you were a kid. It's always so much fun when you girls come around. You liven up this old place.
Ok I'm Sad. Why didn't I get a visit? I would have come up the mountain just to see you my dear:) Just kidding... I understand! I'm glad you had a fun little visit. Those are always nice.
I think I laughed harder picturing you laughing than anything else.haha. My favorite story was of the rodeo. I would have loved to see that (and you laughing)! I am glad that you married Trace because otherwise I wouldn't have ever got to know you and your funness(Definition of "funness"=Taralee)
