Ok, so don't laugh...but I started playing basketball last night. I'm playing with our ward. It was HILARIOUS. Some girls on the don't know what "offense" is or "defense" is or "zone" or one of them tried (extra emphasis on tried) to explain "man on man!" Wow....needless to say....WOW!! I tried my best to explain it all during half time, which by that time we were already down by 20 give or take a few. (For those of you who know the past history of Show Low girls basketball, you will know that I am used to losing by 20 or more)...Anyway, this is how one of the conversations went:
Me: (as I'm guarding the inbounds pass, talking to this one chick, we will call her "Clueless" for confidentiality reason) You need to go down and play defense.
Clueless: Defense? ummm...I thought I WAS playing defense. (as she is standing by herself on the opposite side of the court.)
Me: Umm...close...but to play defense you need to be down there by the hoop guarding someone.
Clueless: (with a totally confused look on her face) Guarding? I thought we were supposed to be shooting.
Me: What? Offense is shooting....DE-fense is guarding.
The other team inbounds the ball, dribbles, shoots and scores before I get done laughing.
Anyway, there are several characters on the team that I will eventually talk about. It is funny. We have the "cheerleader", the Bad-a%$ (or so she thinks), and the "wirey flairer/flopper." It's oh so fun.
I'm shouldn't make fun, cause I'm no Steve Nash or anywhere near good and these ladies are just out to have fun. But I guess I'm just out to have fun too and if getting a good laugh at them is my source of fun....who cares...as long as we are all having a good time. I'll keep ya'll posted though.
As for other stuff. I made a few things. A couple years ago my cousin Megan helped me make these cute little blocks. I re-did them the other day and added a few little things and changed some of the paper on them to match my stuff better. I thought they turned out cute.

That's my wall. Fun, fun. Oh and I also blew up that family picture on the right and hung it up.

I REALLY need to come watch one of your ballgames! haha I bet it is a blast for you. Plus it is good exercise I'm sure. Running up and down the court is great even if you don't score any points! Oh and I love your new blocks and pictures. I like the one with Brody reaching up for his hat. I want one! lova ya.
oh gosh I miss your stories. you are so dang funny! i wish i could have been there to witness this. sounds too funny. can't wait for the next game update!

Oh my....How are you, where are you, what are you doing besides basketball, and what the heck...I have to search for you??? No, I'm glad Jes set up a blog so that I found you. Your family is adorable and what a cute little boy. How fun I love this blog thing. I'm adding you on as a link. Check ours out...
d4family.blogspot.com... It's not as cute because I'm not very creative and it mainly just has pictures of our 3 year old boy, Adam. But at least we can check in on each other now and again. You guys are soooo cute. Check back in...Luv, Melissa
Cute wall decorations Taralee! Either the girls on your basketball team will "get a clue" or it'll just be a lot of work for you to try to explain everything all the time. Good luck!
That is hillarious!! I thought my basketball expierence was funny but nothing compares to that :-).. We miss you guys what did we do wrong in our realtionship??
Too funny... Sounds like a great night of Basketball.!! I love your crafts I cant wait to start doing crafts when we find a house and start to decorate! Love you tons
I can agree with the basketball experience but more with volleyball. It seems like more people from my ward can play basketball than they can volleyball. Also, I dont have any cute decorations like that. I am pretty lame when it comes to decorrations although my house is pleasant. I guess I just cant spend the $$ to change everything I
have. oh well, someday.
